A marvellous time from a brilliant athlete.
In Sligo Gary Condon took part in the Warriors 15k and finished 5th, in a time of 58.14. The Warriors is no ordinary race..... The race is classified as a road, hill and multi-terrain, so whilst approximately 9k are on roads, it is the special six kilometres in the middle, to the top of Knocknarea that gives the race its bite. These six kilometres include a 700 foot climb through fields, loose gravel and heather paths. At its steepest, even the most professional athlete slows to a walk and then brace themselves to face the equally daunting downhill run, back down the often slippery slopes. Therace was won by Ian Conroy in 53.32, Heather Foley was first woman home in 67.26. Full results on http://www.precisiontiming.net/result.aspx?v=2848
The Frank Duffy 10ml was also held over the past weekend, Neil Wiktorski finished in an excellent 8th position and recorded a new Pb of 53.37, Helen Barry smashed her 10mile PB by running 64.59 and finished 10th lady overall and 2nd 0/40. Des O'Hare ran a fine 66.47 as he returns to racing and Paul Allen, running his 2nd 10miler in two weeks, ran 70.18. Elaine Nuzum also smashed her Pb, Elaine ran 1.42.28., 8 minutes better than her previous best. Ana Molina also recorded an excellent Pb by running 1.44.13., over 3minutes off her previous best. These are the results we have to hand.
