National Uneven Ages C/C Results

A huge congratulations to our three athletes who competed in the national uneven ages cross country yesterday at Dundalk I.T. Hannah Foot led the team home, but was closely followed by Ciara Murray and Gráinne O'Sullivan.

All 3 ran super races, working their way trough the field during the 2.5k race, and can rightly count themselves among the top 100 cross country runners in Ireland! We look forward to seeing how they and our many other talented young athletes progress in these championships in the coming years.

We must also congratulate former Bray Runners Sadhbh O'Loan and Richard Owens, who both won team gold medals at yesterdays Championships! Sadhbh was part of the DSD team that won the girls u17 title (despite her running up an age group), while Richard finished 6th individually and was part of the victorious Clonliffe Harriers novice men's team. Well done to both of them!

National Uneven Ages C/C C/Ships

This Sunday is a historic day for the club, as it sees a full Bray Runners A.C. team line up at a national juvenile cross country championship race for the very first time. The club is extremely proud of our u13 girls who have qualified for this event: Ciara Murray, Hannah Foot, Hannah Kelly, and Gráinne O'Sullivan. The race takes place at 11:50 am at Dundalk I.T. Best of luck girls, no doubt it will be the first of many.

Wicklow League Races and Leinster Squad Day

We have had a number of future stars emerge in 2016 with some super performances and results along the way, and it seems like they are really enjoying their athletics.  The final league race of the year took place in Bray Emmets GAA club this past Friday evening.
Many of our newly found stars were racing on Friday, so well done to Síofra Belgley, Róisín Murray, Ferdia O'Sullivan, Bobby Moore, Kyle Harte, Niamh Murray, Nathan Harte, Rían Anafi-Fitzgibbon, and Fionn Begley. It is clear that Bray Runners has a bright future based on the performances this year - it just a case of sticking to it and building it up each year.
Speaking of athlete development, we had 5 athletes attending the Leinster Squad Day in the fabulous AIT Arena this past Saturday. Órla O'Callaghan, Hannah Kelly, Gráinne O'Sullivan, Eleanor Foot, and Aoife Carter between them participated in workshops on middle distance, hurdles, and high jump. The girls really enjoyed the experience and learned a lot from some Olympians and Ireland's top coaches. The next squad day takes place on 07 January, again at AIT Arena.

National Even Ages Cross Country Championships - this Sunday!

Our own Eleanor Foot will be competing against the cream of the crop at the national u12 cross country championships at the national sport campus in Abbotstown, Co. Dublin this Sunday. Anyone who has seen the juvenile provincial races (especially at the younger age groups) will appreciate what a fantastic achievement it is to even qualify for this event.

Since the event is on so close to home (location: goo.gl/0c7h1j), we're encouraging club members and parents to come along and support. The u12s girls race takes place at 11:30am sharp on Sunday. It would be great to see some of you there - look out for our orange Bray Runners A.C. flag.

Clontarf Half Marathon and 5mile

Well done to those who took part in the Clontarf 5mile on Saturday last 19th Nov. Ciara Carter, 37.45; Mary Deery, 44.25 Pb and Mary O'Connor 48.38 Pb. Great running from all. (Those Thursday night hills are paying off)
Jean O'Kennedy ran 1.45.59 in the Half marathon, a good run from Jean as she winds down from a very impressive year.
