Ashling Smith Wins National Masters 800mtr Title

Ashling Smith was in top form at the National Masters T/F C/ships on Sunday 2nd July. Ashling won the 0/45 800mtrs title in a fine time of 2mins 30.53sec. Later in the day Ashling took Bronze in the 1500mtrs in a time of 5mins 10sec. We send our congratulations to Ashling and wish her well when she competes at the European Masters later this month.

We also send our congratulations to our fellow Slí Cualann athletes, Carol Costello who won silver in her 800m, Nick Russell silver in his 400m, Juan Miguel AMO CORTIZO bronze in the hammer, Francois Kulik GOLD in the high jump and Conor O'Reilly GOLD in the shot putt.

 
 
 

Results 29th June/2nd July

On Thursday 29th June the Clonee 10k took place. Jean O'Kennedy recorded a fine 44.48 to take 1st place in her age Category. Cathy Mitchell ran 48.08 and was 4th in her age Category. The race was won by Emmett Dunleavy, Sligo AC in 30.50 and Teresa Doherty, Finn Valley AC, was 1st woman home in a time of 34.25. On Friday 30th June the Kilcock, St Cocas AC, 10k took place. Congratulations go to Charlotte Stevens who took 1st place in her Cat., in a time of 23.25. Siobhan Butler, 21.01 smashed her Pb and was 4th in Cat. Helen Murphy,20.57 also smashed her Pb as did Grainne Butler 22.25. Cathy Mitchell, 2nd race in 24hours ran 23.16.

Bobby Mitchell won his age Cat in 20.08. Richard Kavanagh ran 20.46 to take 3rd place in 0/60 cat.

The race was won by Ian Guiden, Clonliffe Harriers, in a time of 14.38 and first woman home was Rachel Smyth, St Cocas AC,  in a time of 16.37. Full results at;  https://www.myrunresults.com/events/st_cocas_5k_kilcock/2328/results  

 Aoife Stokes continues to show great improvement, On Saturday,1st July, Aoife ran a new 10k Pb of 55.17 at a very wet, windy and hilly Achill 10k. 
Also on Saturday, at the Clontarf Half Marathon, 2 of our Thursday Group girls also recorded new Pbs. Mary Hayde ran 1.56.32 and Marie Curran ran 1.56.33. Dunshaughlin 10k 2017

Well done to all our athletes who took part in the Dunshaughlin 10k on Saturday evening, 24th June. Some great times recorded, plenty of Pb's and a number of prizes won. Suzanne Foot finished 8th O/A and 1st in her age Cat in a time of 39.32. Noelle Thorpe, getting back to her best, ran 46.13 to finish 2nd in her age Cat.
Two other prize winners were, Gary Condon, 33.09, 1st in 0/45 Cat, and Michael Knight, 41.47, running his first race for Bray Runners, was 2nd 0/60.
Colm O' Heigeartaigh ran a new Pb of 35.50, (46secs off previous best); Joe Cawley, getting back to his best form ran 35.54.
Paul Allen, 37.27, knocked 29secs off his previous best, Des O'Hare ran 40.18. Jason O'Connor ran 43.25 and Richard Kavanagh also ran 43.25.
Norbert Van Woerkom 43.32 took over 2minutes off his previous best;; Peter Doran 49.35 and Paul Gannon 49.57, both breaking 50 for the first time, took over 3minutes off their previous best.
Mark Duncan 51.29 just missed a Pb by 4 sec.
Both of Bobby Mitchell's girls ran Pbs, Helen Murphy 43.21 and Grainne Butler 47.27.
Our good friend Eddie McGrath ran a fine 37.39.
The race was won by Sergiu Ciobanu in 30.12, with Laura O'Shaughnessy first lady home in 34.02. Results at www.sportsplits.com

Dublin Pride 5k and Irisher Runner 5ml

Well done to Tom Cavanagh who ran 21.27 at the Dublin Pride 5k on Friday evening 16th June. Tom finished 40th O/A in a field of over 540 runners. Tom clearly in good form as he prepares for the European Masters in a few weeks time. The mens race was won by Owen Fletcher in 17.24, Kate 0'Neill was first woman home in 18.31. Well done also to Aoife Stokes who ran 46.18 and Dario Zanchetta who ran 47.25 at the Irish Runner 5ml on Saturday 17th June. Great runs from both athletes in very hot conditions. Bohermeen 5k, Saturday 10th June

Bohermeen AC 5k on Saturday evening. Gary Condon ran 16.21 to finish 5th 0/A and 1st O/45. Colm O'Heigeartaigh ran a new Pb of 17.10 and 14th O/A. Paul Allen ran 18.22 and Des O'Hare 19.28. Gary, Colm, Paul and Des finished 3rd team in a hotly contested team event.
Suzanne Foot,18.50, finished 3rd in the women's race and 1st in her age cat. Siobhan Butler ran a new Pb of 21.33, Jean O'Kennedy also ran a new Pb of 21.47 and was 1st in her age Cat. Noelle Thorpe, continued her comeback to racing with a fine 22.00 and 3rd in age Cat. Suzanne, Siobhan, Jean and Noelle finished in a fine 2nd place in the team event,
Richard Kavanagh ran 21.13 and 3rd 0/60, Jason O'Connor 21.20, Tom Cavanagh ran 21.27 and Karol O'Loinsigh ran a new Pb of 21.39. 
 Ashling Healy, running her first 5k ran 24.05, Ciara Carter ran 22.17, Grainne Butler 23.11, Cathy Mitchell 23.17, Emer Hynes 24.52. 
 Elaine Casey, 25.34, was another to run a new Pb, Sandra Brady 26.08, Caoimhe Guilfoyle 26.41 also ran a new Pb.
Ronan Guilfoyle, 28.19 and Allison Doyle ran 28.58, Caoimhe Nolan was pleased with her 32.13 as she recovers from injury.
Hannah Foot ran 24.03 and was 4th in Junior Girls, Alannah Guilfoyle 24.20 was 6th Junior girl and Aoife Carter was 7th Junior girl in 24.35.

Donboyne 5ml

Congratulations to Colm O'Heigeartaigh, Siobhan Butler and Cathy Mitchell who all recorded new Pbs at the Dunboyne 5ml on Tuesday last, 30th May. Colm smashed his old Pb, runninig an excellent 28.27. Siobhan ran 35.16 and not alone recorded a new Pb but also was 1st in her age Category. Cathy ran 37.37, a new Pb and 4th in her age Category.

Our Club was founded in 1983 primarily as a marathon running club, however over the years we have introduced a juvenile section and cover a wide range of athletic disciplines.
