The annual Patrick Bell 5k was held in Bohermeen on Friday evening 8th June. A large group of Bray Runners, our fellow Sli Cualann athletes and many of our friends took part.
Ian McGrath was the first Bray Runner home in a fine time of 16.19, was 8th O/A and 2nd 0/40. Dominic Horan continued his fine run of form running 17.15, 22nd 0/a and 1st 0/50. Ashling Smith finished in a time of 19.18, 8th woman home and 2nd in her age cat. Great to see Paul Allen back after injury, Paul ran 19.56. Karol O'Loinsigh ran a new Pb of 21.15 and was closely followed by Tom Cavanagh 21.19 a seasons best. Lee Boland ran 21.39. Jean O'Kennedy, running her 2nd race in 6 days ran 22.04 and was 1st in her age cat. Jenny Lawler ran a seasons best of 22.55 and Mary Hayde ran 23.13.
Both Peter Doran 23.56 and Paul Gannon 24.08 ran Sb. (good luck to Paul on Sunday in the Wexford Marathon). Sandra Brady, 4th in age cat, ran 25.14 and Mary Deery 26.57 was 3rd in her age Cat. Mary O'Connor ran 27.11 and Jackie O'Neill ran 29.06
Great running also from our fellow Sli Cualann athletes, Clive Quinn runinng an excellent 15.58, 4th O/a and 1st 0/40. Great run also from Catherine O'Connor, finishing 4th woman and 3rd in her age cat., in a time of 18.24. Fine run from Laura McCann, 21.00, 4th in her age cat.
Fine running also from our good friends. Helen Murphy 20.57, Cathy Mitchell 22.25 and a new Pb, Grainne Butler 22.25 equalling her Pb (again).
Aisling Healy ran 24.22 in her first race in over a year and Allison Doyle ran 29.39.
In the team event the Sli Cualan womens team, Catherine O'Connor, Ashling Smith, Laura McCann and Jean O'Kennedy finished 2nd to an excellent Dunboyne AC team. The Mens team, Clive Quinn, Ian McGrath, Dominic Horan and Paul Allen, finished 4th
Well done to each and everyone who took part.
Ian McGrath and Dominic Horan ran in the very popular and highly competitive BHAA Dunboyne 5 mile road race on Tuesday 29th May. Conditions were ideal for racing and Ian ran 26:59 to finish 4th overall and Dominic clocked a master's PB running 28:23. Great to see our good friend Martin Francis back to winning ways, running an excellent 31.31 and 1st in 0/60 cat.
