Leinster 10ml C/ships; Jean O'Kennedy Wins Gold, Joe Cawley Wins Silver.

Well done to all our athletes and our fellow Sli Cualann athletes who took part in the Leinster 10ml C/ships in Clontarf earlier today. 
Congratulations to Jean O'Kennedy who won Gold in her age category, running a fine time of 75.30. Congratulations also go to Joe Cawley who won Silver in 0/45 Category, Joe ran 59.27. Mary Hayde set a new Pb of 77.27, 5th in category and Cathy Mitchell also ran a Pb, 77.30, 6th in Category.
Great runs also from our fellow Sli Cualann athletes, Clive Quinn 55.54 and 1st 0/40, Carol Costello 74.32 and 1st in Age Category. Billy Tyrell 66.17 and 2nd 0/60. William Belton 81.51 and 2nd 0/65. Catherine O'Connor 65.23 and 3rd in Age Category. Congratulations to the Sli Cualann Women's Team, Catherine O'Connor, Carol Costello and Jean O'Kennedy who finished 2nd. These are the results we have to hand.


At the K Club 10k on Saturday, Andrea Murphy ran 57.36 and our good friends Grainne Cunningham ran 51.56 and Kevin Burns 55.40.


Also on Saturday Sharon Bailey ran 52.13 and Marie Curran ran 57.19 at the Bray Cliff 10k.


Congratulations to Julia Fonnereau who completed the 2 Oceans Ultra Marathon, 56k, in a very impressive 6hrs 14mins 16 sec.

Great run, on Sunday 1st April, from Karol O'Loinsigh at the Lough Boora Half Marathon. Karol ran a fine 1.39.13, which took over 4 minutes off his previous best for the distance.

Run With Catherina

Cavan town will be hosting the 5th annual RunwithCatherina road race on the 28th April 2018 to celebrate the achievements of Olympian Catherina McKiernan.

Catherina, from Cornafean, is one of Ireland’s greatest athletes. Its the 20th anniversary of Catherina’s fantastic win in the London City Marathon on April 26th 1998.

Catherina is Ireland’s most successful marathon runner, winning the Berlin marathon (her first ever marathon) and then adding the London, Amsterdam marathon and Paris half marathon titles. Catherina still holds the Irish Record for the marathon, she ran 2.22.23 in Amsterdam in November 1998.

Weekend, 24th/25th March, Round up

The Shanganagh Parkrun celebrated it's 2nd birthday on Saturday last. Congratulations to Richard Hourihan and the marvelous team of volunteers who make this great event happen every week. The run was also part of our Bray Runners League.
Well done to all our athletes and friends who part on Saturday. Over 150 athletes took part and Gordon McWilliams was first man home in a new Pb of 18.14. 
Michael Knight continued his preparation for London Marathon by running a fine 20.37. John Ashworth ran 21.35, closely followed by Bernard Quinn who ran 21.41. Paul Gannon ran 24.43, Maureen O'Rourke ran 25.18 and Sandra Brady ran 25.41. Mark Duncan ran 25.42, Elaine Casey ran 27.04 and Mary O'Connor ran 27.12. Emer Hynes ran 28.34, Ana Molina ran 28.56 and Jackie O'Neill ran 29.03.
Fine runs also from Georgina Devlin 21.55 and Grainne Cunningham 25.00 as they both prepare for Rotterdam in a couple of weeks time.
On Sunday 25th March in the Wicklow Goalbreak Half Marathon, Sharon Bailey ran a new Pb of 1.49.26.

Ashling Smith wins Team Silver at European C/C

Congratulations, from all at Bray Runners, go to Ashling Smith who finished 4th in her age category at the European Masters C/C C/ships, held in conjunction with European Masters Indoors, in Madrid earlier today. Congratulations to Jackie Carthy who won Gold for Ireland in the same category. 
In the team event Ashling, Jackie and Catherine Diver won the Silver Team medal, just pipped by the hosts Spain. (Great achievement as both Ashling and Jackie were running in category lower than their own.)
Congratulations to all the Irish athletes who performed brilliantly over the past 6 days.

Ashling 5th in Madrid

Congratulations to Ashling Smith who finished 5th in the Final of the 3000mtrs at the European Indoor Masters C/ships on Monday 19th March. In a very tactical race Ashling ran 10.59. The race was won by an Italian woman in 10.50. Congratulations also go to Ireland's Jackie Stamp (Carthy) who was 2nd in 10.52. 

Meath Spring Half Marathon

Great performances from our athletes, friends and our fellow Sli Cualann athletes at the Bohermeen Half Marathon and 10k, which was held on Sunday 11th March.
Ian McGrath finished in an excellent 10th place O/a and was 2nd 0/40 in a time of 73.39. Gary Condon was 16th O/a and 3rd 0/45 in 74.36.
Suzanne Foot was 4th woman home in 87.18 and Helen Barry ran 89.17.
Michael Knight was 1st 0/60 in 93.22. Ciara Carter ran 1.41.48, Karol O'Loinsigh ran a Pb of 1.43.56. Mary Hayde also ran a Pb of 1.47.34.
Peter Doran, 1.55.43, was another to run a Pb. Marie Curran ran 1.58.30, Elaine Casey ran 2.02.04, Emer Hynes ran 2.02.09.
Gordon McWilliams, 82.26, smashed his Pb, Georgina Devlin ran 97.31, Grainne Butler ran 1.45.04 and Grainne Cunningham ran 1.55.44.
Fine runs also from our fellow Sli Cualann athletes, including Clive Quinn, 74.13;; Catherine O'Connor, 87.15; Anne Marie Kenny,1.44.03. Alan Dalton ran a fine 35.27 and finished 7th O/A in the 10k event.

The Sli Cualann Womens Team, Suzanne Foot, Catherine O'Connor, Helen Barry and Ciara Carter finished in an excellent 2nd place just pipped by a top class Donore Harriers AC team. The Sli Cualann mens team finished in 4th place.

At the Milton Keynes 20mile, Richard Kavanagh ran 2.42.57.
