Awards Night 2018

The Bray Runners 2018 Awards were held on Friday 22nd March, the recipients were...

A special presentation was made to Dermot Brennan who stepped down from committee after almost 30 years of service. Jean O'Kennedy and Andrea Murphy were both recognised for their work over the past number of years. Photographs from the event can be found here. Congratulations to all.

KClub 10K 2019

Well done to all our athletes who were racing on 23rd March 2019. At the K Club 10k, Ian McGrath continued his great form and his preparations for the Berlin Half Marathon with an excellent 32.42 (almost certain that is a new Pb). Ian was 1st 0/45. Garrett Kelly ran 40.10, also a new Pb. Gerry Keaty ran 42.17 also recording a new Pb . Bernard Quinn had an excellent run, running 42.55 and was 1st 0/65. Jean O'Kennedy ran 45.05 and was 1st in her age category. Mary Hayde 45.52 and Dario Zanchetta 50.02 both recorded new Pbs. Paul Gannon ran 50.59 and Peter Doran ran 52.25. Sandra Brady ran 53.59 her best 10k in 4 years and Mary O'Connor 55.22, took over a minute and a half off her previous best for the distance. 

Jenny Lawler took part in the IMRA Maurice Mullins Memorial Run and completed the 25.5k mountain run in just under 3hrs. There was a big turnout of runners and supporters at the Shanganagh Parkrun 4th birthday run today. Well done to ALL who took part which included new Pbs from Conor Boyle 19.32 and Caroline McBride 26.47. Also good to see Richard Hourihan record 19.47, will not be long until he is back to his previous best. These are the results we have to hand.

Juvenile Update

Another great day for the juvenile section of our club with 3 teams reaching the finals of the Leinster relays, Sunday 3rd March. To top it all off the Under 16 girls won Gold in the 4x200 in an amazing time of 1.49.54. Congratulations to all.

Congratulations also to Ashling Smith, Conor Maher and Dominic Horan, who all took home medals from the Leinster Masters Indoors on Saturday 2nd March. Dominic won Silver in the 3000mtrs in a time of 9.52. Conor won bronze in the 1500mtrs in a time of 4.49, a Pb by 9 seconds. Ashling won Silver in the 800mtrs in 2.31, beaten by a mere 0.7 of a second. She also took Silver in the 1500mtrs in 5.06. Well done to Dessie Shorten, Sli Cualann, who won Gold in the 1500 and 800 mtrs and all Sli Cualann athletes who took part. 

In the Laragh 14k Trail Run on Sat 2nd March, Peter Winfield ran a fine 1.31.01. Over in the UK, Julie Fonneraeu took part in the Essex 20mile Road Race, running a very creditable 3.10.24.

Finally well done to ALL our athletes who took part in the Shanganagh Park Run on Saturday. Great to see Aoife Boyle, 23.35, looking as if it will not be long before she is back to her best

Duleek 5K 2019

Well done to all 22 of our athletes who took part in the Duleek 5k on 24th February 2019. Excellent times recorded, Both Pbs and Sbs recorded, as well as podium finishes by 3 of our athletes.

Was great to see Suzanne Foot back racing, and winning her age category, after a lengthy layoff through injury, The women's team (scoring; Suzanne, Ashling and Jean) finished 2nd, beaten by just 40 seconds by an excellent Na Fianna AC team. The Men's team finished 7th of 13 teams. Pbs from Gerry Keaty, over a minute off previous best, Mary Hayde and Dario Zanucetta. Ashling Smith, finished 3rd in her age Category and Dolores Gilliland had a great run finishing 2nd in her age Category.

Congratulations to one and all, great club day out. Well done to ALL our athletes who took part in the Shanganagh Parkrun on Saturday 23rd Feb. Fine run from Ian McGrath, first athlete home in 17.42.

Congratulations to Conor Maher who ran a very impressive indoor debut, running 4.58 for the 1500mtrs at the NIA LIVE meet on Wednesday last 23rd FEB. Ashling Smith ran a fine 5,31 in the Mile at the same meet.

Armagh International Road Races 2019

Armagh 

Great runs from Ashling Smith, Dominic Horan and Inbhear Dee's Emma O'Brien at the Armagh International Road Races this evening. Ashling ran 11.11 and was 1st in her age Category in the Women's 3k. Dominic ran 9.53, was 2nd in his age Category in the Men's 3k. Emma ran an excellent 9.35, in the Womens 3k. Great running from all

Leinster Indoor Championships & Enniscorthy 10K

Congratulations to our juveniles who had an amazingly successful weekend at the Leinster Indoor C/ships. 18 athletes competed and they took home 5 medals, 4 silver and 1 bronze. Well done to all, great achievement. 

Well done also to all our Bray Runners and our fellow Sli Cualann athletes who took part in the Enniscorthy 10k on 10th February 2019. Great times and a couple of Pbs over a very tough new course. Paul Allen ran an excellent new Pb of 37.15 and finished 25th overall. Gary Condon, continues his recovery from injury, finishing 26th in a time of 37.25. Des O'Hare ran 43.49 and Richard Kavanagh ran 44.33 and was 2nd 0/60. Jason O'Conner was well pleased with his 46.13. Mary Hayde, fresh from her C/C exploits, ran a new Pb, taking almost 3 minutes off her previous best. Peter Winfield ran 49.26 and was 3rd in his age Category, Julia Fonneraue ran 52.38 and was 5th in age Cat. Paul Gannon ran 54.46 and Mary O'Connor, 57.49 just missed out on her Pb by 6 seconds. Congratulations to the Sli Cualann Women's Team of Catherine O'Connor 38.58 (s) Ann Marie Kenny 40.47(s) Lynn Duffy 41.21 (s) Shiela O'Byrne 42.29 (s) Mary Hayde, Niamh O'Cellaigh, Julia Fonneraue, Mary O'Connor and Paula O'Byrne, who won the Women's Team prize. Well done also to Sli Cualann's Derek Crammond, 35.14 and 1st Junior. Some other Sli Cualann times were Tony Redmond 39.06 and Cormac O'Cellaigh 41.06.
These are the results we have to hand.

Well done to both Ana Molina and Elaine Nuzun who took part in the Barcelona Half Marathon, running 2.18 and 2.12 respectively.

Fine runs also from ALL our athletes in the Shanganagh Parkrun on Saturday, good to see Garret Kelly, 20.10, back running after his recent injury.
