Well done to our 2 ladies who took part in the National Masters Cross Country C/ships in Dundalk on 3rd February 2019. Ashling Smith finished 28th overall and 4th in her age category and Mary Hayde, who finished off an excellent first season of C/C, in finishing 14th in her age category. Together with Catherine O'Connor, 21st O/a and 8th in age category and Ann Marie Kenny, 39th O/a and 13th in age category, they helped the Sli Cualann team to an excellent 7th place and the County team to 4th. Congratulations to our fellow Sli Cualann athletes who also took part, Michael Byrne won Gold in his age category and Dessie Shorten, 4th in age cat, and William Belton, 10th in his category.
Excellent results also from our athletes who took part in the Trim 10ml. Ian McGrath ran an excellent new Pb of 54.51, finishing 6th overall and 1st in his age category. Joe Cawley ran a very tidy 59.49. Jean O'Kennedy ran a new Pb of 74.45 and finished 2nd in her age category. Siobhan Butler was well pleased with 81.47. Great to see Charlote Stevens, back racing, running a fine 83.27 and 6th in age category. Peter Doran, also on the comeback trail ran 89.16. Fine runs also from our fellow Sli Cualann athletes, Alan Dalton 58.30, Aonghus O'Briain 69.30, Michael Priest 71.18, Donna Quinn 72.49 and Carol Costello 74.05.
Well done also to our good friends Helen Murphy who ran an excellent 69.36 and Grainne Butler who was well pleased with her 81.46. These are the results we have to hand.
Well done also to ALL our athletes who took part in the Shanganagh Parkrun on Saturday, fine performances from all, despite the very low temperature. Good to see Des O'Hare and Jason O'Connor back racing again after a lengthy lay off, and great to see Aoife Boyle running 24.00, her fastest 5k since April '17.

Paul Allen recorded a new Pb of 28.49, (1min 26sec off his previous best). Jean O'Kennedy ran 36.38 and was 2nd in her age category. Sharon Bailey, racing 5mile for the first time ran a fine 37.19. Peter Doran ran a new Pb of 40.23, almost 3 minutes off his previous best. Sandra Brady, 41.45, her best 5ml time since 2015.
Rachel Daly ran a new PB, 42.33, almost 2 minutes off her previous best, that's 2 Pbs for Rachel in eight days. Aoife Stokes also ran a new Pb, 42.34 and Mary Deery was another to run a new Pb, Mary ran 44.11. Paul Gannon ran 43.40, Cara Barry, first time to race 5ml, ran 45.51, and Liz Melican ran 45.34. Britta Luebbert ran 62.44. Well done to all.
Congratulations to the Sli Cualann Masters Women's team (Sarah Baryga, Catherine O'Connor and Ann Marie Kenny), who won the Masters Team Category.
Well done to Ian McGrath who finished 7th at the BHAA, EIR 5ml Cross Country, on Sat 19th Jan., and Bernard Quinn who finished 2nd in his age category in the same race.
