Morton Games

At the Morton Games in Santry on Friday last, 11th July, Richard Owens, ran a very impressive 1.52.34 to finish 7th in the 800mtrs A race. Congratulations to Richard on a fantastic time, good luck for the rest of the season.

Kilmore Quay 5k; Results

The annual Kilmore Quay 5k was held on Saturday 12th July.  An unusual road race as it is run over 5 laps of the lovely village of Kilmore Quay, and each race, juniors, ladies and mens is run separately. The course is a tough one, each lap consists of a climb, a downhill and a flat section of almost equal length. The finish is located half way up the climb.

Emer Hynes made a fine return to racing, after her recent injury, she ran 24.32 to finish in 27th place. The race was won by Jackie Carthy, Kilmore AC, in 18.10, only after a tremendous battle with Charlotte Kearney, Donadea, 18.15. Ann Sullivan, DMP AC, finished 3rd in 19.31.

In the mens race Gary Condon ran another fine race, 7th overall in 16.35. The race was won by Niall Sheil, St Killians, 15.41, Pat Byrne, Tinryland, 2nd in 15.50 and Ger Forde, Rathfarnham, 3rd in 16.01. Richard Kavanagh ran 19.45, to take 1st O/60.

Thursday 10th July, Training Notes.

Another fine turnout for our Thursday session, despite the rain. Great to see Jackie O'Neill back with the group after a short lay off through injury. Hill work was on the menu last night, with Gordon, still showing no ill effects from his Ironman efforts, leading out the group.

On Thursday next, 17th July, our training will be a 5k time trial on the paths in Shanganagh. All welcome, even if you are not a Thursday regular. Juveniles also welcome, we can arrange a 3k, if necessary. Usual Thursday meeting point, 6.30 pm, front gates.
