• There is something magical about running; after a certain distance, it transcends the body. Then a bit further, it transcends the mind. A bit further yet, and what you have before you, laid bare, is the soul.

                                       CHARLEVILLE HALF MARATHON.

Conditions were perfect for this years Charleville Half-Marathon, cool, about 9 deg C at the start and hardly any wind. The sun didn't really appear until about the 2 hour mark and most runners were nearly home at that stage. A big plus is that all roads are closed for the duration of the race. Martin Fagan was first athlete home in a time of 63.58, with Maria McCambridge first lady home in 72.26. Top 60 finishers were under 80 minutes. Richard Kavanagh ran 1hr.29.05. to finish 1st in the O/60 Category. (Mix up in earlier results) Thomas Moore, Sli Cualann, ran an excellent 78.32.

Urgent Request For Help With Juveniles..

Members, Friends and Parents of Bray Runners Juveniles

We have a fairly urgent need for additional coaching resources. While we are fortunate to have a committed team of coaches, we have recently had to turn away new potential athletes due to capacity limitations - one week, we turned away as many as 8 potential athletes who wanted to join the club. Also we now have very limited cover should one of our coaches be unavailable for a particular training session.

Would you please consider joining the coaching team, either as a coaching assistant, or with the intention of becoming a trained juvenile athletics coach in due course.

If you wished to become a fully trained coach, the club will sponsor you to attend the relevant Coach Education courses over a period of time, run by Athletics Ireland.

Alternatively if you were willing to help out as a coaching assistant we would pair you up with a trained coach from one of our groups, and would ask you to help out for 2 weeks a month, or on alternative months, in rotation with another coaching assistant.

There is no initial requirement or qualification, other than a willingness to get involved.

In line with AI's policy on child protection, all members of the coaching team do have to get Garda Clearance and attend one of AI's Code of Ethics courses.

If any of you would be interested in knowing more, please contact me on this email address,
brayrunnersjuniors@gmail.com

Thank You, Bill Stanley, Juvenile Coordinator.
