Marathon Research.

 My name is Andrew Nippard and I’m a sports nutrition researcher at St. Mary’s University. We are conducting a research paper on the impact of BEET-IT (beetroot juice shots) on marathon performance.

 A research team at St. Mary’s University is conducting a study on the potential impact of BEET-IT (beetroot juice) Sports Shots on marathon running performance. We are looking for male and female study participants aged between 20-50 who have registered to run one of the following marathons: Cork, Wexford, Waterford, Killarney or Edinburgh. Wings For Life

Well done to all who took part in Wings For Life Run earlier today. Dominic made it to 42.3k, which just happens to be outside his front door, great running. Fine runs from Emer, who got to 10ml, Siobhan and Cathy who made it to 11ml. These are the results we have to hand. Des O'Hare and Will Foot also did very well, we hear, waiting on confirmation of their results.

Congratulations to our Irish Winners, Paul Martelletti and Sarah Mulligan who ran 73.76KM and 45.64KM respectively! Both broke the Irish records from 2015.

Jean O'Kennedy win Bronze in Leinster Road C/ships

Congratulations to Jean O'Kennedy who was 3rd in her age category at the Leinster Road C/ships which were held in Gowran, Co., Kilkenny. Jean ran a fine time of 13.24 for the 3k race. Jean was also part of the Wicklow County Masters team who also finished in 3rd place. Well done also to Stephen O'Kennedy who ran 22.12 in the Novice, 6k, event.

Some fine runnning at the Tallaght 5k, Dominic Horan ran 17.26 to win the M45 Cat, Colm O'Heigeartaigh ran 17.34, to record yet another Pb and Jason O'Connor, returning from a couple of weeks off, ran 20.55. Full results at http://www.myrunresults.com/even…/tallaght_ac_5k/188/results

 

Joe Cawley Runs 2.42 in London Marathon

Joe Cawley recorded a fine 2.42.10 in last Sunday's London Marathon, a fine run considering a couple injury problems Joe has had of late. Ian McGrath, good friend of Bray Runners, finished just behind Joe in 2.43.23. Well done to both.

Wicklow Road C/ships 2016.

The  Wicklow Road C/ships  took place on Wednesday last, 20th April in Ashford. We had 18 athletes taking part, all putting in fine performances. We took home 8 individual medals, 5 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze.

Gary Condon, returning from injury, finished 3rd overall and was 1st 0/40. Dominic Horan won the 0/45 Category in 17.03, Suzanne Foot, fresh rom her National Relay gold, ran 18.32 to finish 3rd woman and 1st in her Age Category. Jean O'Kennedy also won Gold in her age Cat, running a Pb of 22.42 and Mary Deery also recorded a Pb of 25.31, in winning her age Cat. Tom Cavanagh ran 21.42 to take silver in the 0/60 Cat, Tom had a great battle with William Belton, Roundwood AC, just losing out by a mere 2 seconds. There were bronze medals for Emer Hynes, 24.34 and Mary O'Connor 28.01.

Joe Cawley, completed his preparations for London Marathon in running 17.14, Colm O'Heigeartaigh, 17.35,  ran another PB, Bill Stanley, 18.04, Paul Allen, 18.15, also ran a new Pb. Gordon McWilliams, 21.36, Niamh Coffey 24.42, PB, Stefanie Unland 25.24 was another to record a Pb, Elaine Nuzun, 29.14; Jackie O'Neill, 30.29, and it was great to see Ana Molina, 29.52  back after being out for a number of months. Well done to all and a big thank you to all those who came out to support the athletes.

Tim Grummell, 16.29 was first man home and Fionnuala McCormack, 16.49 was first woman to cross the line.
