In the National Half Marathon, on 2nd Sept, Noelle Thorpe took over 11 mins off her previous best to run 1hr 37m 46s and take the silver medal in 0/50 cat. She now adds that to her bronze in the National 10k from earlier this year. Gary Condon also ran a brilliant pb, 1hr 17m 16s, a pb by over 2mins. He finished 51st overall, a great performance in such a high quality field. Jason O,Connor, in his first half, set out to run 1hr 41, and true to his word he ran 1hr 41m 17s.
A large turnout of 25 athletes plus 3 on bike support for training last night. There was 2 groups, with Dermots group doing speed work (300s and 400s ) and Seans group doing 1ks on the Fit4Life course. We had a couple of newcomers, Dessi, we hope he enjoyed it, and Jackie, 2nd week, who showed an amazing improvement from her first week. Please note, no official training next Thursday, as we are hosting the Fit4life 5k @7.30pm on that evening. If you are not running please come along to help out.
For anyone looking to break 90mins or 1hr 40 in the Dublin Half Marathon this year, Gary Condon is part of the 90min pacing group and Dominic Horan is part of the 1hr 40 group.
In the Dublin Marathon this year, Joe Cawley and Ian McGrath will be on 3hr. pacing duty.There will be pacing groups up to 5hrs.
On sunday 26th Aug., Martin Francis ran 2hrs 57.03, to finish 8th overall and 1st O/50. Full results available on the Longford Marathon website.
