On Thursday 6th Sept., our club hosted a very successful Fit4Life 5k race. There was a huge turnout on a beautiful evening. The excellent organisation and stewarding arrangements ensured everything went off without a hitch. We had a large contingent of Bray Runners, both juvenile and senior. Full results will be published as soon as we have them,I am sure we will see a lot of pbs. Just to remind you that thursday training returns, as normal, next week. The focus will now turn to the first of the Wicklow C/C C/ships, Novice on sunday 7th Oct. If you are eligible please try to make yourself available.
We have heard that Dolores has won a 100mt barefoot race in India. More news on this when we get it.
In the National Half Marathon, on 2nd Sept, Noelle Thorpe took over 11 mins off her previous best to run 1hr 37m 46s and take the silver medal in 0/50 cat. She now adds that to her bronze in the National 10k from earlier this year. Gary Condon also ran a brilliant pb, 1hr 17m 16s, a pb by over 2mins. He finished 51st overall, a great performance in such a high quality field. Jason O,Connor, in his first half, set out to run 1hr 41, and true to his word he ran 1hr 41m 17s.
A large turnout of 25 athletes plus 3 on bike support for training last night. There was 2 groups, with Dermots group doing speed work (300s and 400s ) and Seans group doing 1ks on the Fit4Life course. We had a couple of newcomers, Dessi, we hope he enjoyed it, and Jackie, 2nd week, who showed an amazing improvement from her first week. Please note, no official training next Thursday, as we are hosting the Fit4life 5k @7.30pm on that evening. If you are not running please come along to help out.
Our Club was founded in 1983 primarily as a marathon running club, however over the years we have introduced a juvenile section and cover a wide range of athletic disciplines.
