Fit4life, round 7, Djouce.

Round 7 of the Fit4life series was held in Djouce on Thursday 1st August. This was a predictor race, results based on closest to your predicted time. We had a number of athletes taking part and the first senior athlete home was Chris Morgan in 30.26, closely followed by Dominic Horan in 30.30.  Bill Stanley, 31.17; Valerie Browne, 32.32; Mary Dawson, 35.02; Charlotte Stevens, 39.15; and Marc Kierans,43.25 completed our line up. Bay 10k Results

Monday 5th August saw the 3rd running of this very popular race. The race was won by Freddy Situk in a time of 32.29. The womens race was won by Aoife Joyce in 41.11. We had a number of athletes taking part, Neil Wiktorski coming home in 4th place in 34.21, Gary Condon, 5th and 1st O/40, Bill Stanley, 39.52; Paul de Freine, 41.51 and 1st 0/50, Tom Cavanagh, 44.13, 2nd 0/50; Charlotte Stevens, 48.27, 3rd 0/50; Dolores Gilliland, 52.17; Susan Dowd, 58.33 (pacing a friend), Ana Molina, 62.11; Elaine Nuzun, 64.42. Well done to all our athletes who took part and also to those who acted as stewards and those who were part of the organising committee.

Thursday Nights

Thursday training continues to be very well attended, we had 30 athletes present last week. We split into 3 groups, with each group doing their own particular session. Group 1 did a 1x1k and 2 x2ks. Chris Morgan and Bill Stanley led out this group in an average pace of just under 3.30 per K, closely followed by a large pack which included the likes of Matt Hickmont, Muriel Hare and Paddy Ryan to name just 3. Group 2 did a 5x1 K session, they worked extremely hard as a group and were averaging just over 4 minutes per K. Group 3 did a 50 minute session that included 2x1mins, 2x2mins, 2x3mins, 1x4mins and 1x1k, average pace of this group just under 5mins per K. You can see from the above, that there is something for all standards on Thursday evening. We will be doing a similar type of session next Thursday, so if you are not one of our regulars why not come along and give it a try.
