Stook Hill 10 Mile Challenge

At today's Stook Hill 10mile, held just outside Gowran, Co. Kilkenny, Gary Condon finished in 5th place and took 1st O/40, in a fine time of 58.58 over a very demanding 10 mile course. Dominic Horan also had a very good run, finishing in 31st place in a time of 66.27, 4th O/45. Runners are timed over a very steep downhill section, 1 mile, Gary was clocked at 5.19 with Dominic recording 5.40. The Race was won by Gary O'Hanlon in 53.44, (4.25 for his downhill mile), Angela McCann was 1st lady home in 63.11, (5.25 downhill mile). Well done to all who competed.

Richard Owens Wins MO 5k.

Richard Owens put in a magnificent performance today, 17th Nov, to win the Movember 5k in the Phoenix Park. Richard's time was a very impressive 15.12, which left him well clear of his nearest rival. Over 700 athletes took part, well done to all.

In last weeks Remembrance 5k, also in the Phoenix Park, Bernard Quinn ran a fine 20.34 to finish in 79th place in a field of over 2,000. (1st 0/60 had there been category prizes).

WINTER LEAGUE, ROUND 2

Tonight, Thursday 7th Nov, we had Round 2 of our Winter League, a 4k Predictor. We had 18 athletes taking part, and a couple of stewards out on the course. We have added a juvenile section to our league and we were delighted to welcome Sadbh O'Loan, Michael Ahern and Thomas Quill. Some fine times were recorded, Christy Maloney was first athlete home in 16.05 with Thomas Quill, one of our many promising juveniles, next home in a very impressive 17.27. The winner of the event was Paul Humpries, 4 secs off his predicted, closely followed by Diana Doll, 5secs out. In the juveniles, Sabdh O'Loan and Michael Ahern were both just 6sec off their predicted times.

League table will be available asap. Provisional tally suggest Diana and Noelle top the leaderboard, followed closely by Jason, Paul and Christy. 

 

 

BALLYCOTTON 2014, ENTRY PROCEDURE

1) Online entries will open on Friday December 6th at 2pm and the first 2,300

will be accepted.

2) A PDF copy of the entry form will then be published on the website on

Monday December 9th (forms will also be available in John Buckley Sports,

Tri n Run in Midleton and Ger Wyley Sports, Dungarvan, the same day). The

first 200 non-club entries to arrive by post will be added to the above number,

giving a total of 2,500.

3) After that, only AAI club members and those who ran the four races in the

Ballycotton Summer Series 2013 will be accepted (by post) up until Friday

December 20th and for those living overseas up until Tuesday January 7th.

4) As usual, a limited number of elite entries will be available nearer the date.

This year we are not encouraging people to send in stamped addressed

envelopes but anyone who wishes to do so will have the forms posted out on

Friday December 6th.

Entry fee for the 2014 race is again €15 (plus booking fee if entering online).

UPDATES

Thursday training this week will be a 4k tempo run, usual warm up and cool down. This will also incorporate Round 2 of our Winter League, a 4k predictor. Our new base for Thursday is St., Killians College, Schools Rd, off Boghall Road. Changing rooms, showers and secure parking.  Meeting time 6.30.
