Senior Cross Country, Official Results

We now have the official results from the Wicklow Senior and Junior C/C C/ships. The Men's race, 10k, was won by Richard Owens in 32.10, Neil Wiktorski, 2nd in 33.11 and Noellie Kavanagh, Roundwood, 3rd in 33.34. Chris Morgan 7th, 35.30, Gary Condon 8th, 35.44, Dominic Horan 16th, 37.08 and Joe Kelly 22nd, 38.11 completed the Bray team. Many seasoned observers reckoned Richard Owens display was one of the best ever seen at a Senior C/c C/ships.

In the men's team event Bray Runners took Gold, Parnell A.C. 2nd and Kilcoole A.C. 3rd. We must mention the great Mick Byrne who finished in a magnificent 6th place, a great achievement after his recent illness.

In the Ladies race, 5k, Suzanne Foot, 3rd last year, took Gold in a time of 19.50. Michelle Waters, Kilcoole A.C. was 2nd, and Noelle Thorpe, 20.22, 4th. Helen Barry, 20.37, finished 7th, Diana Doll, 21.38, 10th, and Grainne Cunningham, 23.56, 13th completed the Bray Runners team.

  In the team event, Bray Runners took Gold followed by Kilcoole A.C. 2nd and Parnell A.C. 3rd.

The Junior men's race was won by David Flannery, Parnell A.C with Sile O'Byrne, Parnell A.C. taking the Junior Women's, for a 3rd year in a row.

GREAT DAY FOR CLUB AT SENIOR CROSS COUNTRY.

At todays Wicklow Senior Cross Country C/ships Suzanne Foot won Gold in the women's race and Richard Owens took Gold in the men's race, with Neil Wiktorski finishing in the silver medal position. Provisional results suggest our women's team, Suzanne, Noelle Thorpe, Helen Barry, Diana Doll and Grainne Cunningham won Gold and our men's team, Richard O, Neil, Gary Condon, Chris Morgan, Dominic Horan and Joe Kelly also took Gold. Well done to all who took part, and a big thank you to those who helped to organise, acted as stewards and those who came along to support and encourage the athletes. Official results as soon as they become available.  

WICKLOW SENIOR CROSS COUNTRY

The Wicklow Senior and Junior C/C takes place on Sunday next 1st Dec., in Avondale Rathdrum. Senior and Junior women will start at 11am, followed by Senior and Junior Men at 11.30. Please arrive early, as carpark is over 10min walk to registration and start area. Those who have volunteered to steward, please report to registration area no later than 10.40. Both our teams are almost at full strength for these prestigious events and would benefit greatly from your encouragement and support around the course. So if not running please come along, if at all possible, and support our athletes.  

Fit4Life 4ml, Avondale

Sunday last, 24th Nov, saw the final race in the Fit4life 2013 series. We had 5 athletes taking part and all seemed happy with their performance. Dominic Horan finished 8th and 2nd O/40 in 23.58, Richard Kavanagh, 26.04 and 1st O/60, Noelle Thorpe, 27.59 and 1st O/50, Diana Doll, 28.59 and 3rd Senior woman and Charlotte Stevens, 30.20 finished 3rd O/50. The race was won by Damien Lawless in 22.01. Well done to all who competed and to those who organised a fine event. Full results on www.slicualann.com   

Winter League, Rd 3.

Tonight we had Rd 3 of our Winter League, a 4k H/cap. 15 athletes took part and all seemed happy with their evenings work. Two of our new recruits, Colm 15.45 and Gordon 16.35, put in fine performances, and showed that they will be great assets to our club in the future. Des O'Hare, fresh from his recent fine run in Dublin Marathon, ran an excellent 15.57. Bernard Quinn, great to see him back on Thursday nights, ran a fine 16.38. Tom Cavanagh and Denis Patterson had a great battle all the way round, running 16.59 and 17.02 respectively. Jason O'Connor, 39 seconds off previous best, and Diana Doll, 28 seconds off previous best, continued their great improvement of recent times. Noelle Thorpe also knocked 9 seconds off her previous best for the distance. Paul, Grainne, Dolores and Susan were all happy with there times. The biggest improver on the night was Liam Casey, knocking over 2mins off his previous best, running 18.21. The winner of the event was Pat McCourt, running 18.37 and with a H/cap of 4mins he finished 6 seconds ahead of Liam and 20 seconds ahead of Des. Rd 4, a 2 person relay, 12 x 400s, will be held in 2 weeks time on 5th Dec. Well done to all who competed and a big thank you to our bike support team. WINTER LEAGUE, RD3, BONUS POINTS ON OFFER

Round 3 of our Winter League will take place on Thursday 21st Nov, meet at St. Killians College at 6.30. This week event is a 4k H/cap, all start together, h/cap deducted from finishing time. There will be bonus points on offer this week, improve on your previous 4k and you will receive either 2, 4 or 6 bonus points. Improve 1 to 5 seconds for 2points, 6 to 10 for 4 points and 11 plus 6 points. If you did not take part in 4k run, we will work out your time based on the 3k run or a recent 5k. Looking forward to another big turnout, if unable to run please come along to help out.

                                                        FIT4LIFE 4MILE TRAIL.

The final round of the Fit4life league takes place on Sunday next, 24th Nov in Avondale at 10am. Registration from 9.30. Entry fee 5euro.
