Duleek 5K 2020

We had a number of athletes take part in the Duleek 5k on 29th February 2020. Great performances from all despite the terrible weather conditions. Drew Donohoe, running his first race other than parkruns, ran a fine 19.19 to finish 18th overall and 3rd Junior. (Drew ran 19.29 in the Tymon parkrun just 3hours earlier thinking Duleek would be cancelled).

Neil Felton continued to show great early season form, running 19.28, a new Pb and first time under 20minutes. Fine running also from John Ashworth 21.54, Mary Hayde 22.01 and Jean O'Kennedy 22.25 who was 3rd 0/50. Siobhan Butler ran 23.01 and was 4th 0/50, Tara Mullen smashed her Pb in running 26.24 and Mary O'Connor had a fine run, recording a time of 27.45.

Well done also to our good friends Joanne Carey who ran 21.44, her best 5k in a while and good to see Grainne Butler, 23.03, back racing again. Well done to all, great times in extremely tough conditions.

REMINDER: All members are asked to attend, if possible, meeting re proposed 5k, which will be held in St Annes Resource Centre on Thursday next, 5th Feb at 8pm.

Bray Runners add to medal collection

Great results from our athletes who were racing over the weekend. Niall Larkin had a fantastic run in the Seville Marathon, Niall recorded an excellent time of 2hrs, 49mins, 33sec. On Saturday at the Leinster Indoor T/F C/ships, Conor Maher ran a new Pb of 61.65sec for 400 mtrs., and won the bronze medal and in the 3000mrts Dominic Horan added to his medal collection, taking home silver in a time of 10min 04sec. Well done to both and to all our fellow Sli Cualann athletes who took part.

Love is in the air...

The start of the Love me Leave Me Trail 5k, held on Saturday 15th Feb.
Sharon Ryan and her partner (for the day) Richard Kavanagh finished 7th from 88 teams in the mixed team category and first in the 110 to 129 age category. Their combined time was 25.59. (22.40/23.19). Tough course, but good fun and well organised.

Enniscorthy 10k 2020

Well done to all our athletes and our fellow Sli Cualann athletes who took part in the Enniscorthy 10k on Sunday 16th February. Some great times recorded on what was a very cold and windy day. Suzanne Foot finished 3rd in the women's race in an excellent time of 39.40. Will Foot also broke the 40 minute mark, running 39.55. The ever consistent Jean O'Kennedy ran 45.12 and was 1st in 0/50 Category. Stephen Carter ran 47.37. Ciara Carter ran 48.31, Jason O'Connor 49.22, Peter Doran 53.40 and Paul Gannon 55.24. Awaiting official confirmation, looks like the Sli Cualann Women's team of Suzanne, Ashling Kirwan, Jean and Ciara should be in the prizes.
