Dublin Half Marathon, Great Performances From Our Athletes

The Dublin Half Marathon was held today, 20th Sept, in Dublin's Phoenix Park. Joe Cawley ran a brilliant 75.55 to record a new Pb. Joe is clearly in good form for the upcoming C/C seaon.  Gordon McWilliams ran a fine time of 1hr.32.01. Georgina Devlin ran a great new Pb of 1hr.39.50. getting under the 1hr.40. mark for the first time. Ashling Smith, running her first race as a Bray Runner, and her first half marathon ran an excellent 1hr.41.08. Dave Carraher smashed his H/M Pb by over 6 minutes, running a great time of 1hr.42.01. Andrea Murphy ran 1hr.49.12., an easy run for Andrea this week after her Pb last weekend. Angela Ross Innes ran  2hr.08.53, as she finalised her preparations for the Kilomarathon next Sat. The race was won by Gary O'Hanlon in a time of 1.09.43, with Patricia Wlodarczyk in 1.22.53.

                                       CHARLEVILLE HALF MARATHON.

Conditions were perfect for this years Charleville Half-Marathon, cool, about 9 deg C at the start and hardly any wind. The sun didn't really appear until about the 2 hour mark and most runners were nearly home at that stage. A big plus is that all roads are closed for the duration of the race. Martin Fagan was first athlete home in a time of 63.58, with Maria McCambridge first lady home in 72.26. Top 60 finishers were under 80 minutes. Richard Kavanagh ran 1hr.29.05. to finish 1st in the O/60 Category. (Mix up in earlier results) Thomas Moore, Sli Cualann, ran an excellent 78.32.
