Runner profile: Noelle Thorpe

Noelle Thorpe

Noelle started running 12 years ago this month - walking, jogging in Shanganagh Park. She ended up runnning the 2002 and 2004 Dublin Marathons. In 2004 she ran a fantastic time of 3h 25mins.

It was not until October 2008, that she joined Bray Runners (children a bit older, she said) and ran a couple of Wicklow cross country races. Unfortunately, she got injured in December 2008 and missed all of 2009. Slowly returning to running 2010, she has not looked back since.

Next on the list is the National Half Marathon, where Noelle hopes to run under 1h 40m and maybe even figure in the medals. A typical training week at the moment is, 4/5 days, 2 fast sessions, 1 long run (up to 2hours) and 1 or 2 easy days, including drills or hill sprints.

Update, Since writing the above Noelle  ran 1hr 37 (smashing her old PB) in the National half, 2nd O/50 and the silver medal, and on the 23rd Sept she set a new 5k PB of 20.43.
