April Racing Round Up
In April we had plenty of opportunities to don the orange and black.
The Weekend of No 10k PBS
- Michael McElroy took to the hills for the Kippure 10k Trail Run. Not surprisingly, no PB there!
- Thomas Conway donned the racers for the National 10k Championships….no PB there either less said about that one!
- Norbert Van Woerkom did however take a minute off his PB….in the Enschede marathon running a fabulous 3:57.25 even after the wheels came off. Well done Norb.
- PB to be confirmed but on this weekend Ken Kennedy ran a fab 3:20 marathon in Rotterdam.
Wexford Half Marathon
New members Amy Fitzpatrick, Jen McLoughlin, Louise Kelly had great runs in the Wexford 10k and Half Marathon and Maureen O’Rourke ran another sub 2 hours with 1:58:56, well done!
NATIONAL ROAD RELAYS
Thanks to Coach Bobby’s powers of persuasion () we had an unprecedented turnout at the Raheny Road Relays with the club represented by 7 teams in total and 22 athletes across the junior, senior and master categories. A fabulous day out with tears of joy, frustration, and maybe a compass needed for new member Mark Corbett?!
LEINSTER MASTER AND NOVICE ROAD CHAMPIONSHIPS
We finished the month out in style with again fantastic representation at the Leinster Master and Novice 3k and 6k Road Championships, many members experiencing these last two events for the first time.
We had individual and team representation across nearly all of the categories. Orla Phillips brought home individual bronze in her category as did Dominic Horan in his. Drew Donohoe and Antonia Vitori both had top 8 finishes in the fiercely competitive senior category.
Well done all and to our fellow Wicklow and Sli Cualann athletes.
Thanks to Bobby for driving the participation in all these races.Bobby has also had the brainwave of hiring a bus to travel to these events. Brains and beauty, we are a lucky club. We know which part Cathy provides…..we were superbly refuelled with her delicious chocolate covered energy balls post-race on Saturday, thank you so much Cathy!
FIT FOR LIFE
Congratulations to Team Fit For Life of Maureen O’Rourke, Orla Phillips and Bobby for this initiative. We have seen quite unexpected numbers embrace this programme and the team have welcomed all in unflappable style.
