Leeinster Novice and Masters Road C/Ships.
It was a great day for our athletes and Sli Cualann athletes at yesterday's Leinster Novice and Masters Road C/Ships which were held in Gowran, Co Kilkenny. In the womens Novice event Claire O'Callaghan, Glendalough AC, ran a fine race to finish in an excellent 12th place. In the womens race Suzanne Foot finished in 3rd place overall and took the silver medal in the O/40 category. Ashling Smith finished 6th overall and took the bronze medal in the O/40 category. Anne Marie Kenny, Parnell AC, finished 11th overall and 4th in O/40 category. The 3 girls formed the Sli Cualann F35-49 team who finished 2nd in the club team event, just pipped by an excellent Portlaoise AC team.
Jean O'Kennedy, running a distance not to her liking, finished in bronze medal position in the 0/50 category, a mere 16 seconds away from gold. Dolores Gilliland, made a brave defence of the title she won in 2014, in finishing in bronze medal position in O/55 category, a fine effort considering the injury problems she has had of late. BB Kenny, Parnell AC, also ran an excellent race and won the silver medal in the O/55 category. BB, Jean and Dolores also took the Silver medal for Sli Cualann in the F50+ Category.
In the mens race, Dominic Horan continued his return to full fitness with a fine run to finish in 26th place overall in what was a top class race. Mick Byrne ran his usual excellent race, 12th place o/a and gold O/50. There was also excellent performances from all of the Sli Cualann mens team, official results to follow.
