Joe Kelly
My first experience of running was in secondary school where I competed
in both track and cross country.
Athletics was not my main sporting focus at this stage as Gaelic Football
and Soccer would have been my priority.
After college in the mid nineties, I gave up Gaelic football for a couple of years and
ran three Marathons. Two in Boston and one in Dublin.
I subsequently went back to the Gaelic football but continued to run on a regular basis.
After retiring from football for good around 2005 I started to run in Shanganagh on a regular basis.
On one of these runs I met Sean Clifford who encouraged me to Join Bray Runners.
Since joining Bray Runners my running has improved significantly.
The encouragement I have received from a host of members in the club has been hugely
beneficial in making me a much better runner.
My current PB's are as follows:
5k - 18.06- Ashford 2010
5 mile - 29.54 - Dunboyne 2011
10k - 37.40 - Dunshauglin 2012
10 mile - 1.03.58 - Ballycotton 2012
Half Marathon - 1.24.08 - Longford 2012
Marathon - 3.05.28 - Berlin 2012
